Sometimes women are called weak. Especially women with HIV. More examples of when they talk about HIV with an open face, bravely fighting for their rights, give birth to children against the advice of "well-wishers" and solve the most important problems of the state, along with ministers and deputies.

"Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV today does not only violate the fundamental principles of human rights, but also they are factors in the spread of HIV infection. They are the main barriers to access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support in the field of HIV, as well as any medical, social, legal and other services. Eliminating effects of stigma and discrimination is a key objective of the strategy "towards the goal of Zero".

Through self-stigma, pass every person living with HIV. Stopping oppressing yourself, needs a lot of mental strength, but also it requires help of peer counselors, psychologists, specialists and friends. When you have experienced self-stigma yourself, it is easier to help others. In addition, if you are still a doctor, you are able to provide expert assistance to many.

Kazakhstan Association of People Living with HIV has taken the initiative of the purchase of antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV-positive through the UN mechanism. This can have a significant impact on the reduction of prices for antiretroviral therapy, which today are among the highest in the region.

For the first time in the history of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the composition of its working group of activists entered the “Central Asian Association of People Living with HIV”  President - Nurali Amanzholov and the member of Kazakhstan Network of Women Living with HIV  - Indira Otzhanova.

Kazakhstan has created a platform for dialogue with the participation of non-governmental AIDS service organizations, government agencies and pharmaceutical companies to improve access for people living with HIV to ARVs.
