THE V CONGRESS OF THE KAZAKHSTAN UNION OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV

October 30, 2015.  , the next, V-Congress of the Kazakhstan Union of People Living with HIV took place in Almaty.

Forty delegates representing non-governmental public organizations of six regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of state and international organizations attended the congress. The purpose of the event is to determine the further activities of the Kazakhstan Union in the context of the transition from donor to domestic funding.

During the congress, the delegates discussed various problems, including: involvement of NGOs in the development and implementation of local HIV and AIDS prevention programs through the state social order mechanism, the effectiveness of advocacy campaigns in the regions, monitoring and evaluation of HIV and AIDS prevention programs.

Particular attention was paid to reducing stigma and discrimination against PLHIV and providing them with quality ARVs.

- I want to point out once again that in order to stabilize the situation it is necessary that tenders for purchasing ARV drugs are carried out as transparently as possible. Reducing prices for ART drugs will allow more people living with HIV to receive life-saving treatment increase the duration and improve the quality of life, - said Nurali Amanzholov, the President of the Kazakhstan Union of People Living with HIV.
