Training for trainers "Creating a tolerant attitude on the part of medical staff to people who live with HIV and representatives of at-risk groups"

Training for trainers was heldon September 26-30, 2016 in Almaty . "Creating a tolerant attitude on the part of medical staff to people who live with HIV and representatives of risk groups."

Purpose of the event:

To train trainers on the formation of tolerant attitude on the part of medical staff to people who live with HIV and representatives of high-risk groups.

Tasks:

To improve knowledge of participants on key issues of epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, HIV clinic and methods of preventing HIV infection.

Help participants explore their thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and behavior towards PLHIV and HWR representatives, and their impact on professional behavior.

Discuss with participants the norms of legislation in the field of health care and HIV / AIDS in the country, consider the rights and responsibilities of PLHIV / representatives of the HWR and the rights and duties of health care providers related to the safety of providing medical services to HIV-infected patients.

To familiarize participants with the basic principles and procedure for conducting HIV counseling and testing.

Identify the concepts of "stigma", "stigmatization", "discrimination" and "tolerant attitude."

Analyze and determine the causes of such phenomena as stigma and discrimination, and help participants to understand the consequences of stigmatization of PLHIV and representatives of HWR.

Discuss with participants the need for universal precautions to avoid HIV infection in the workplace.

To familiarize the participants of the training with the algorithm of actions and the rules for prescribing post-exposure prophylaxis.

Develop / develop the skills necessary for quality teaching of the main aspects of HIV infection and stigma and discrimination issues among the training participants in order to create a tolerant attitude towards PLHIV and HWR.

Within the framework of the training the participants got acquainted with the activities of the All-Ukrainian Network of PLWH in the direction of combating stigma and discrimination towards PLHIV, the epidemiological situation with HIV in the world and countries of the region, the clinical course of HIV infection, methods of HIV diagnosis and treatment, infection prevention strategies, the role of doctors in their implementation and other important information.
