"Strengthening the leadership potential is impossible without the training component. For training and seminars, we have become accustomed. However, the camp - a relatively new form, it proved to be very effective through a combination of a friendly atmosphere, interesting group lessons, nature and sports".
September 2014. HIV-positive - are often introvert people that try to hide their status for fear of stigma and discrimination, including from loved ones. To defend the rights, to fight for tolerance, to help the needy and declare openly are able only people with strong spirit. This people are - community leaders who are trusted and are able to promote ideas of tolerance in the society.
30 participants of the camp, including leaders of the country organizations, activists, leading representatives of initiative groups arrived in the recreation area of Sary-oy on the shores of picturesque Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan) for leadership training, exchange of experience, joint programs, community development and mobilization regional network of people living with HIV.
In the morning, everyone was hurrying to the training on capacity building and team building, and in the evening – to the sandy beach to play football or watch the sunset. Informal atmosphere disposed to non-standard creative ideas to improve the performance of communities.There were created plans for the development of womennetwork of PLHIV, organization of information campaigns in the regions against women as mothers stigma and discrimination, were developed interesting information materials on HIV prevention for the population.
Well-known trainers and USAID and HPP specialists conducted training sessions. Basics of oratory and public speaking skills, team attention attraction, development of teamwork, harmonization of common andpersonal objectives, taking responsibility, creating motivation to work together. There was a lot of self-development work.Community leader’s activity also includes many components: the interaction of non-governmental sector with state agencies and businesses, client’s employment, lobbying for the social projects in the power structures, and more.
